RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) is seeking a Project Coordinator skilled in advocacy campaigns and project management for its efforts around multilateral development institutions. This position is within REF's global tuberculosis (TB) project, "Advocacy to Control TB Internationally" (ACTION). The Project Coordinator for multilateral institutions would join a dynamic team based in Washington, D.C. and work closely with ACTION's country partners and project management team to coordinate a global campaign to increase resources and prioritization of TB within major multilateral global health funding institutions.
ACTION is an international partnership of advocates working to mobilize resources to treat and prevent the spread of TB. ACTION's underlying premise is that more rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic by building support for increased public sector funding for effective TB control among key policymakers and opinion leaders in both high TB burden countries and donor countries. ACTION currently works in Canada, France, India, Japan, Kenya, the U.K., and the U.S.
REF is a nonprofit citizens' advocacy organization dedicated to generating the public and political will to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. REF has more than 100 volunteer chapters around the country who are well-known for their commitment to and leadership on issues of poverty. REF also works with partners and allies around the world, including international organizations and NGOs in Asia, Africa, and Europe. REF focuses advocacy and educational efforts on addressing diseases such as TB and HIV/AIDS and other major killers of people living in poverty, achieving education for all, and expanding access to microfinance for the very poor.
This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. Salary and benefits package are competitive and based on experience.
This Project Coordinator position is responsible for the ACTION project's efforts to mobilize resources, achieve higher priority for TB control, and establish and improve TB policies among major multilateral donors and mechanisms. By serving as the main point of coordination and support for country partners, in particular the position will primarily focus on three key objectives: 1) advancing an ambitious funding strategy for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria (GFATM) as well as increased and improved GFATM funding for TB; 2) coordinating ACTION's advocacy to impact World Bank commitments for TB; and, 3) assessing and advancing innovative financing opportunities (e.g. the airline levy through UNITAID, the currency transaction levy, etc.).
Specific responsibilities include:
Providing individual and cross-country coordination, advocacy strategy guidance, policy analysis, and activity support for campaign activities specifically directed toward increasing and improving funding for TB from multilateral institutions. This includes supporting research and intelligence gathering, policymaker education and engagement, media outreach, and coalition building efforts.
Leveraging media announcements, policy developments, speeches, content of reviews and evaluations, and other information surrounding the activities, programming, and performance of the World Bank and GFATM pertinent to pursuing ACTION's advocacy objectives.
Facilitating and coordinating communication and strategic information sharing on multilateral funding campaign strategies among international project partners, including conference calls, meetings, and regular project-wide updates.
Tracking and leveraging the activities of and, as appropriate, engaging relevant Boards and policy committees of multilateral donors/institutions, civil society coalitions, and intergovernmental platforms and processes to inform and support development of partners' country-level strategies and advance global and regional advocacy opportunities.
Providing support to ACTION partners participating on the Boards of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, UNAIDS, and other bodies.
Coordinating and managing with partners and REF team members' advocacy opportunities and strategies for national and international meetings, conferences, and events to leverage multilateral advocacy efforts.
Ensuring project targets and goals for multilateral resource mobilization for TB are being met across countries, in particular by being the point person for monitoring and evaluation and reporting on the project's advocacy with multilateral institutions.
Contributing to development of project-wide documents including newsletters, publications, proposals and other external communications and tools as well as internal updates and annual reports.
Familiarity with multilateral official development assistance mechanisms, particularly the structures, programs, and policies of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria and the World Bank. Pre-existing contacts within these institutions is a plus.
Undergraduate degree required (graduate degree preferred) in relevant field preferably in political science/public policy, international development, public health, business management or management.
Minimum of three years experience in developing advocacy strategies and coordinating campaigns, preferably on international health and financing issues.
Superior project management skills, organization and dedication to detail, with experience in managing multiple deadlines and complex assignments from start to finish.
Exceptional writing and editing skills and ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, as well as to work independently and as part of a larger team.
Willingness to work effectively and efficiently with interoffice and offsite team members and management.
Experience managing and mentoring staff and interns in a communicative and supportive environment.
Demonstrated computer skills, including solid knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
Sensitivity to other cultures and working styles.
Work abroad and foreign language experience, especially French and Japanese, a plus.
Commitment to the mission of the organization and project.

RESULTS/RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) seeks an Online Communications and Website Coordinator. This coordinator will be full-time, and preferably based in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience managing websites with Expression Engine, be a compelling and succinct writer, possess a keen eye for detail, be able to multi-task under multiple deadlines for multiple websites, and enjoy a good degree of comfort with technology and online activist engagement.
The Online Communications and Website Coordinator would work with the Communications Director to prioritize work between RESULTS Educational Fund (REF), ACTION (Advocacy to Control TB Internationally), and the Microcredit Summit Campaign (MCS), each of which has its own website: results.org, action.org, and microcreditsummit.org. All three website sites will require daily/weekly updates, along with longer term build out of new features. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for development and implementation of a social networking strategy for both RESULTS Educational Fund and ACTION.

The Microcredit Summit Campaign (MCS), a project of REF, was established in 1997 and is the world's largest global network of microfinance stakeholders. The Campaign has led, guided, and supported the sector towards reaching the ambitious goals defined by Campaign members at the 1997 Summit and expanded in 2006. These objectives were set in alignment with the UN's Millennium Development Goals. MCS is working to ensure that 175 million of the world's poorest families are receiving credit and 100 million families rise above the US $1 a day threshold by 2015.

The Research Associate will join a dynamic team based in Washington, D.C. as well as work closely with ACTION's country partners to meet the campaign's research needs, helping to ensure that advocacy strategies are evidenced-based and strategic communications reflect the latest data and best practices.

RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) is a non-profit citizens' advocacy organization dedicated to generating the public and political will to end the worst aspects of poverty. We are seeking interns to support our global tuberculosis (TB) advocacy campaign, "Advocacy to Control TB Internationally" (ACTION); Education for All campaign; U.S. legislative and policy work; foreign assistance reform; and various other campaign issues. RESULTS utilizes advocacy tools and strategies, communications, and policy advocacy research to mobilize increased financial resources in donor countries and to overcome key policy constraints in developing countries to address and help reverse the burden of diseases of poverty, increase access to education for girls, and reform U.S. policies that impact poverty globally.
This position could be part-time (15-20 hours a week) or full-time (40 hours a week). Candidates who can work full days (9 am to 6 pm) are greatly preferred. Part-time intern candidates must be available on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday or Tuesday-Thursday schedule for full days.
