We're halfway toward treating everyone suffering from AIDS, TB, and malaria, thanks to the contributions governments have made to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Through those contributions, half of all people suffering from these diseases in low-income countries are now able to receive effective treatment. But plans for helping the other half who get sick each year are in jeopardy, as donor governments now appear to be backing away from commitments they made to fully fund the Global Fund.
You can help get them back on course. U.S. President Barack Obama will soon be deciding whether or not to fully contribute the annual U.S. fair share of resources around U.S. $2 billion. His decision will mean the difference between life and death for millions around the world, especially because every dollar the U.S. provides to the Global Fund draws two dollars from other wealthy donor governments.
That's why we're asking you take action. No matter where you live in the world YOU should send a message to U.S. President and Nobel Laureate Barack Obama. Tell him we must get the job done against AIDS, TB and malaria. Let's reach the other half!
Visit the campaign page, download a campaign tool kit, and send an e-mail message to President Obama (you will be redirected to RESULTS.org): We're Halfway There Let's Reach the Other Half!
Our campaign toolkit gives you the resources necessary to participate in our Halfway There campaign. Inside, you will find the materials you or your organization will need to print postcards, along with messages you can suggest activists to write on the back of their postcards; suggestions for expanding the campaign through social networking; media materials for creating signs, banners, and t-shirts for rallies; and resources to help you work with the media.
There is a short section on the back of your Halfway There postcard where you can write a personal message to President Barack Obama. What you write in this section is completely up to you, but considering some strong and compelling messaging options might be helpful while you write.
