Privacy Policy

The ACTION website allows us to provide you with valuable information about advocacy to fight tuberculosis (TB) and ACTION campaigns and activities. This website also provides you with opportunities to take action and make donations to support our valuable work. The following statement discloses the privacy policies for the ACTION website. RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) – who maintains and supports the website – reserves the right to change this policy at any time and encourages you to visit this page periodically to check for updates. If you have any questions or comments regarding this policy, please email action@action.org, or contact us in writing at ACTION c/o RESULTS Educational Fund, 1730 Rhode Island Ave NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20036.

What information do we collect, and how do we use it?

When you visit the ACTION website, REF collects some non-identifying basic information, such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, and other non-personally identifiable information. We use this information to improve our website. REF does not collect any personal information when you simply browse our website.

REF does require your personal information when you choose to make an online donation to REF to support ACTION. Specifically, we request your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and credit card information. We use this information to process your donation(s), to verify credit card data, to provide tax-deductible receipts for tax purposes in the US, and to keep you informed about the ACTION programs. Credit card information you submit in order to make a donation is used only for that particular transaction. REF has appropriate security measures in place at our offices to protect against the loss or misuse of any personal information collected from you, including your credit card information. Online credit card donations are processed by Payment Solutions, Inc., which also has security policies in place to protect personal information.

REF also requests personal information from website visitors who sign up to receive regular email action alerts or other information via email or postal mail, or take action through the website, such as signing a petition or sending an email to someone else through the website. Information requested includes but is not exclusive to your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. We use this information to provide the communications you request and to keep you informed about ACTION campaigns and activities. You will always be given the option to "unsubscribe" or "opt-out" of such communications.

REF does send cookies, or small pieces of data, to your browser and hard drive when you sign up for updates or take action on the website, but you can turn off those cookies through your browser. The system will still work but not as quickly.

Our online donation processing agent also uses "session cookies" so that they can properly verify your identity while you are making an online donation. These session cookies are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Finally, REF does not knowingly collect any personal information from a child without the consent of the child's parent(s). Children under the age of 18 should obtain parental consent before making an online donation or signing up for email communications from REF.

Do we share your information?

REF does not share any of the personal information you submit to make online donations with any third-party organizations other than our credit card processing agent. In addition, we do not sell or rent personal information you submit in order to receive email action alerts or other information about our program activities via email. REF may share the information with other ACTION partners, including but not limited to RESULTS Canada, RESULTS Japan, RESULTS UK, ACTION India, Global Health Advocates, Global Health Advocates France, and Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium (KANCO), in order to advance the goals of ACTION and partner organizations. From time to time, we may also agree with other charitable organizations to contact each other's supporters in order to advance our shared goals. You will always be given the option to "unsubscribe" or "opt-out" of such communications.

If you want to request that your personal information not be shared with any other ACTION partners or charitable organizations, please write to Webmaster, ACTION c/o RESULTS Educational Fund, 1730 Rhode Island Ave NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20036, or email action@action.org.

How do we ensure the security of online donations?
