ACTION is an International Partnership of Civil Society Advocates
ACTION’s mission is to build support for increased resources for effective TB control, especially among key policymakers and other opinion leaders in both high TB burden countries and donor countries. With effective policy advocacy and greater political will, rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic.
RESULTS Australia
Background: RESULTS Australia is part of an international network of volunteers whose purpose is to generate the public and political will to end poverty.
Mission: Combine grassroots activism with strategic grass-tops efforts to leverage millions of dollars for programs and improved policies that give low-income people the health, education, and the opportunity they need to thrive.
RESULTS Australia has been instrumental in working towards ACTION’s goals.
- ACTION expanded to Australia in 2009, a key leader and important donor in the Southeast Asia and Pacific Region.
- Thanks to advocacy efforts of RESULTS Australia and partners, the Australian government has contributed over $175 million to the Global Fund since 2004.
- RESULTS Australia has worked to increase parliamentary awareness and support of TB by organizing TB exhibitions and educational sessions at the Parliament House Canberra and monthly grassroots calls with high-level leaders.
