The United States has agreed to pledge $450 million over the next three years to GAVI, meeting our request. In addition, USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah agreed to host a high-level conference on GAVI in DC next year to assess progress and help hold donors accountable.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced their endorsement of a new rapid tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic. Xpert MTB/RIF allows patients to receive a diagnosis and begin appropriate treatment faster than ever before. Used widely, Xpert will prevent TB transmission on a massive scale.
